Old Mill Porch

Presteigne, Powys

Cindy and Francis had taken several years to restore an old mill in Presteigne and needed one more push to finish off and get over the line.

A traditional porch was needed with a curved tie beam. A first floor window somewhat complicated things and the pitch of the roof had to be accurately calculated so as not to foul the window cill.

The frame sits on a dwarf masonry wall, with rebated glazing on one side and larch weatherboarding the other, topped off with oak common rafters.

Building a small frame can often be just as rewarding as producing a large one!
