Castle Ring Oak Frame is a bustling, family-run timber framing business with a broad portfolio of past projects. Operating from the Welsh Marches, just outside of Presteigne, we work across the UK and, on occasion, further afield.
Our path to timber framing was, you could say, circuitous.
It began with youthful idealism (AKA naivety), led on to the £10,000 purchase of 35 acres of clear fell woodland, included seven years of living in a caravan, and a prolonged spell of pig farming.
The pivotal moment came when we decided to build our own oak-framed home.
Rob signed-up for a framing course. We scraped together our meagre budget. We were determined to create our very own grand design. We loved the process as much as the end result. And, before we even finished our own home, we picked-up our first customer.
Soon, the story began to spread. We picked up a slew of awards (including the Best Overall, Best Oak Frame and Best Value categories in the 2010 Homebuilding & Renovating Award) and generated a heap of media coverage. And, fortunately, the phone has carried on ringing for more than a decade.
We like to think that the journey has equipped us to run an oak-framing business:
If you're considering an oak framed building (or larch, or douglas fir), let's talk. We'll gladly put together an outline quote (completely free, with no strings attached). And we need very little information from you to do so.
Equally, we're always here, at the end of the phone, to talk through your ideas.
